Spend time
on what matters most to you

At Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, we are supported by volunteers who accompany patients and their relatives during their stay at the Hospital. The role of these volunteers is to make the patients’ stay at the hospital more personal and provide emotional support in order to improve the patients’ quality of life and emotional state. This collaboration helps us provide a more human style of care. At Vall d’Hebron, we can put you in touch with volunteer organisations who will help you leave your mark and make an impact on patients’ lives.
The Association of Family and Friends of Children with Cancer (AFANOC) works with Social Work professionals and the hospital volunteering coordination team.

As recognition of the highly commendable work carried out by the volunteers collaborating at the Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, we participated in the drafting of the Charter of Volunteers in the field of health in Catalonia drawn up by the Department for Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Catalan Federation of Social Volunteering. It defines the volunteers’ mission in hospitals and social-health centres, focusing on the provision of emotional support and accompaniment for patients and relatives, and collects recommendations and proposals to consolidate volunteering as part of a healthcare model based on solidarity and human relationships.
