El diumenge 12 de novembre, el RCD Espanyol ha organitzat la cursa solidària ‘Running 1900’, que destinarà la recaptació a millorar el benestar dels nens i nenes que pateixen immunodeficiències primàries (IDP), malalties que afecten 1 de cada 2.000 nadons.
Dos mil participants han corregut a la Running 1900 per donar suport als nens i les nenes que pateixen immunodeficiències primàries (IDP). Aquesta cursa, que enguany ha arribat a la tercera edició, ha estat organitzada per l’RCD Espanyol. El recorregut es va iniciar al Centre Comercial Splau i va finalitzar al terreny de joc de l’estadi de l’RCD Espanyol.
Amb aquesta acció solidària, el RCD Espanyol ha col·laborat amb la PID Foundation, una organització que té com a objectiu millorar l’atenció dels nens i nenes que pateixen IDP. La Fundació Barcelona PID Foundation és una organització sense afany de lucre constituïda l'any 2014 com una iniciativa d'un grup de professionals de Vall d'Hebron dedicats a l'atenció pediàtrica de les IDP i les seves complicacions infeccioses conjuntament amb familiars de pacients afectes. El jugador del primer equip de l’Espanyol Mario Hermoso apadrina aquesta causa solidària.
Les immunodeficiències primàries són un grup de més de 300 malalties genètiques que es caracteritzen per l’alteració quantitativa o funcional dels mecanismes implicats en la resposta immunitària i que es presenten majoritàriament a l’edat pediàtrica. Formen part de les anomenades “malalties minoritàries”, ja que afecten 1 de cada 2.000 nounats. La seva pitjor forma és la immunodeficiència combinada greu (els nens coneguts com a “nens bombolla”).
Aquesta acció compta amb el suport de l'Hospital Vall d'Hebron, centre de referència a nivell europeu en diagnòstic i tractament d'aquestes patologies.
