La Marató de Tv3 d’aquest any ha tractat sobre les malalties minoritàries. En total, s’han aconseguit recaptar 9.404.256 euros.
Les malalties minoritàries, també anomenades rares, són les que afecten entre un 6% i un 8% de la població. Es calcula que al món n’hi ha més de 7.000. La majoria de malalties minoritàries tenen una base genètica, afecten diversos òrgans i sistemes del nostre cos i provoquen una discapacitat intel·lectual o física.
Aquest any, La Marató de Tv3 ha tingut com a objectiu recaptar fons per avançar en la recerca en aquest tipus de malalties. Pacients i professionals de Vall d’Hebron han tingut un gran protagonisme durant La Marató per explicar com viuen les seves patologies i com es poden tractar.
En aquest sentit, en Marc, pacient que pateix la síndrome de Brugada, va explicar com és la seva vida amb aquesta patologia que pot acabar causant mort sobtada. La Natàlia, pacient que pateix Ehlers-danlos i paraparèsia espàstica familiar, va voler emfatitzar que la gent amb malalties minoritàries també “tenim somnis”. Ella està estudiant medicina malgrat que ha passat per moltes operacions degut a les dues malalties que té, que li provoquen deformitats i luxacions de les articulacions i pèrdua de mobilitat. I el Nacho, que té 10 anys i que pateix la síndrome de Dent, va explicar que ha passat més de la meitat dels aniversaris malalt. Per la seva banda, en Jordi Roca, ambaixador de Vall d'Hebron, va transmetre el que suposa viure amb distonia, en una entrevista on també apareixen pacients de l'hospital amb aquesta malaltia.
Pel que fa als professionals, la Mireia Forner, psicòloga clínica de la Secció de Psiquiatria d'Enllaç i Interconsulta del Servei de Psiquiatria, va dir que cadascú “afronta la malaltia a la seva manera i totes les maneres són vàlides”. I, el Dr. Alfons Macaya, cap del Servei de Neurologia Pediàtrica i cap de Grup de Neurologia Pediàtrica del VHIR, va incidir en què la medicina de precisió, les unitats multidisciplinàries i el treball en xarxa entre diferents centres i institucions és “fonamental en la lluita contra les malalties minoritàries”.
