Vall d’Hebron raises 15,000 euros with the sale of solidarity digital roses by Sant Jordi

The money will go to finance different research projects carried out by a multipurpose and multidisciplinary team made up of more than 100 researchers and doctors from different areas.

This year, Sant Jordi has been special in every way. The health crisis and the situation of confinement have forced to awaken the ingenuity to create a celebration as beautiful as possible. In recent years, the Vall d'Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus Patronage Unit sold solidarity roses at both the Hospital and Paseo de Gracia, with Vall d'Hebron volunteers and with the support of La Caixa, to finance projects research and assistance. The current context has forced to promote an alternative, equally emotional: solidarity digital roses against the coronavirus. The rose was sent by email to the desired person accompanied by a personalized message.

The sales figures have been very satisfactory: up to 3,000 Vall d'Hebron roses were given away on Sant Jordi day, a fact that represents a collection of 15,000 euros. This money will be used both to continue improving assistance to patients with COVID-19 -a huge effort has been made to adapt the spaces and we are already the State hospital with the most ICU beds- and for research, since a multipurpose and multidisciplinary team formed by more than 100 researchers and doctors from different areas (epidemiologists, internists, geneticists, virologists, immunologists, molecular biologists, etc.) has been created to develop different research projects on the disease and the virus SARS-CoV-2.
