Ecmo

Since 2009, with the publication of the CESAR study (Efficacy and economic assessment of conventional ventilatory support versus extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for severe adult respiratory failure (CESAR): Lancet, 2009) and the appearance of the H1N1 pandemic, the use of the H1N1 pandemic has increased exponentially. It is an extremely complex technique, used in cases in which the usual therapy is insufficient to ensure the patient's life support, with a high risk of serious complications and which requires the participation of a multidisciplinary team of specifically trained professionals.

The Advanced Training in ECMO is a training proposal in the capacity of an observer, oriented to the multidimensional approach, based on specific objectives and the criteria set by the ELSO Society.
