Anesthesia in children constitutes a specific area of the specialty of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, which includes not only perioperative anesthesia for surgical procedures but also for non-surgical, interventional or diagnostic procedures. The pathophysiology of children has required the development of techniques adapted to this group of patients and the design of specific materials for the pediatric group, adapted and different for each need that the specialist must know. The Advanced Training in Pediatric Anesthesia program at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital is an observer-oriented course that aims to be a reference training that offers the tools so that the specialist in Anesthesiology can offer the necessary quality to pediatric patients from the very beginning, and not based only on the experience or recommendations of the main scientific societies in the specialty.
