Annabella García Morán is a clinical psychologist trained within the Health Service of the Principality of Asturias, holding a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy from the University of Alcalá and a postgraduate qualification in Psychosocial Care from the University of Vic. With nearly thirty years of experience in mental health, she has developed most of her career working with adult populations in both community and hospital settings, using an integrative and evidence-based clinical approach. Her clinical practice incorporates trauma-informed models, emotional regulation, cluster B personality disorders, cognitive-behavioural therapy, relational frameworks, and DBT-inspired strategies. She engages in continuous professional development in adult neurodevelopmental conditions, psychogeriatrics, caregiver-support programmes, and advances in family and couples therapy. She is proficient in several languages, which enhances clinical accessibility and supports effective care for adults from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Curriculum

With a professional career spanning almost three decades in clinical psychology, Annabella García Morán has worked primarily with adults within the public mental health networks of Asturias and Catalonia, across both community and hospital services. She has extensive experience in complex psychopathology, affective disorders, personality disorders, psychological trauma, and high-emotional-load situations associated with medical illness and acute life events. Between 2004 and 2006 she coordinated the Therapeutic Community of Avilés, where she integrated intensive intervention models and interdisciplinary work with adults with severe mental illness.

Since 2017 she has been part of the Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron. She began her activity at the Psycho-Oncology Service and later joined the Mental Health Service, where she carries out psychological and neuropsychological assessment, emotional support, and clinical intervention with patients and caregivers involved in high-complexity medical processes. She also has experience in intercultural psychology and functional use of multiple languages, facilitating clinical work with culturally diverse adult populations.

In the field of research, she is a member of the Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions Group at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). She participates in the study on Biliary Atresia and Liver Transplantation, where she is responsible for neuropsychological assessment, and serves as principal investigator in a multicentre project on complex chronic patients and their families, focusing on emotional impact, stress, and resilience processes in patients and caregivers. She has received training in health research methodology, data analysis, critical appraisal, and the use of platforms such as REDCap, integrating the research perspective into her clinical practice.

She has taught PIR residency training and professional development courses for healthcare staff in the Health Services of Asturias. She is currently an associate lecturer in the Master’s Degree in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona and takes part in continuing-education activities and webinars for caregivers and adult populations at Vall d’Hebron. Her scientific output includes publications in Psicothema, Revista de Psiquiatría y Psicosomática, and Frontiers in Psychology, as well as authorship of a chapter on women and disability published by the Department of Social Affairs of the Principado de Asturias.
