Virtual visit to the Vall d'Hebron Centre for Advanced Clinical Simulation

Who we are

The Vall d'Hebron Centre for Advanced Clinical Simulation is directed by the Executive Committee formed by the Center's Management and Coordination. The organizational structure is divided into:

  • The project management unit, responsible for the coordination and management of the Centre's simulation projects.
  •  The operations and technologies management unit, responsible for the planning and management of the center's resources as well as technological renewal, design, and development of new simulators and medical equipment.
  • The Teaching Organization Committee (COS), which provides the necessary teaching advice in all the Center's simulation activities and promotes the creation of simulation groups with health professionals from the different care areas of the hospital with the aim of develop simulation training programs.

In addition, the Center has the Technical Commission for Simulation Support (CTSS), which is a multidisciplinary commission with representation from the three centers (General Hospital, Children's and Women's Hospital, and Traumatology, Rehabilitation and Burns Hospital). CTSS members have the qualification, training and experience in simulation. Its general functions are:

  • Develop skills training programs through simulation.
  • Define the quality standards of the simulation activities and ensure their compliance.
  • Assess, support and supervise initiatives in the field of the institution's simulation.
  • Analyze the impact of the simulation intervention on care quality and patient safety.
  • Identify training needs using simulation.

Finally, 80 leading simulation ambassadors from the hospital's different healthcare services and more than 150 healthcare professionals trained as simulation instructors at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital are collaborating.

Where are we

The Centre is located on the 5th floor of the Traumatology, Rehabilitation and Burns Hospital. It currently has an area of ​​1,400 m2 distributed between the Multifunctional Area, which has multipurpose spaces, the High Complexity Area with specific spaces such as Operating Room, ICU Box, Emergency Box, External Consultation, Surgical Skills Room, Room of Virtual Simulators, etc. and a central area called Agora.
