Dr Patricia Pozo Rosich, section head in the Neurology Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, head of the Headache and Neurological Pain Research Group at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and director of the Vall d’Hebron Migraine Adaptive Brain Center has been named as the new honorary secretary of the International Headache Society. Dr Pozo Rosich had already been a member of the executive committee of the International Headache Society, the world's leading professional organisation in this field, for four years. She will now become honorary secretary of the International Headache Society, which has also elected a new president to coincide with the International Headache Congress, which will be held virtually between 8 and 12 September.

Dr Cristina Tassorelli of the C. Mondino National Neurological Institute (Pavia, Italy) will assume the presidency, replacing Dr Messoud Ashina of the Danish Headache Center at Rigshospitalet Glostrup in Copenhagen. “It is a great honour to be named as honorary secretary of the International Headache Society; especially when you consider that, for the first time in the society's history, two women will hold its highest office, with Dr Tassorelli being named as the new president”, said Dr Patricia Pozo Rosich. She is also set to serve as Scientific Chair of the International Headache Congress, which the International Headache Society is organising alongside the European Migraine and Headache Alliance, Dr Todd Schwedt (USA) and Dr Christian Lampl (Austria).

Dr Patricia Pozo has led the Vall d’Hebron Migraine Adaptive Brain Center - a unique centre in Spain, set up in collaboration with the "la Caixa” Foundation - since 2019. The centre brings together clinical research, care activities, training programmes and patient education services. Having specialised in headaches in the laboratories of renowned Professor Steven D. Silberstein (Thomas Jefferson University, USA) and Professor Peter J. Goadsby (University of California at San Francisco, USA; and University College London, Queen Square Institute of Neurology, UK), her work has been published in various impact factor journals. These include The Lancet, a publication in which she has contributed to a series of articles focusing on the socio-economic impact of migraines as well as on the latest diagnostic and therapeutic advances this year.
