Haematology and Haemotherapy

The Haematology and Haemotherapy Department applies the specialty of haematology and haemotherapy. In accordance with the definition offered by the Spanish Society of Haematology and Haemotherapy, this is a clinical medical specialty as a branch of internal medicine, but it also plays a fundamental role in laboratory diagnosis.

The National Health System has designated the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital as a reference centre (CSUR) in Congenital Coagulopathies and Related Diseases, Reconstruction of the auricle (adult) and Congenital spinal cord failure syndromes (adult and pediatric). In addition, the same hospital has been designated as an ERN in Craniofacial anomalies and ear, nose, and throat disorders and Paediatric cancer - oncohaematology, haemotological diseases by the European Commission.
