SIMPEDIATRIC: Training in simulation for Pediatrics

SIMPEDIATRIA is a simulation training program for Pediatrics residents that includes practical training in basic technical and non-technical skills that cover each year of residency in the speciality.

The SIMPEDIATRIA program offers comprehensive and practical training for pediatric residents, designed to develop essential technical and communication skills in pediatric care. Through specialized workshops and clinical simulation, participants acquire key competencies in a safe and controlled environment.

It includes on-site simulations in the emergency room, hospitalization floor and postpartum floor, essential for R1s, allowing residents to face real situations within their own work environment. In addition, for R2s, R3s and R4s, SIM-Crític Kids sessions are held, an advanced training in highly complex pediatric situations.

The following training courses are offered within the program:

  • Lumbar puncture
  • Peripheral venous puncture
  • Non-invasive respiratory support
  • Communication skillsInitial and complete neonatal life support
  • Advanced pediatric life support
  • Basic ultrasound and echocardiography for pediatricians
  • Invasive procedures workshop: central venous access, tracheal intubation, pleural drainage placement
  • Child violence careInitial pediatric trauma care
  • Pediatric and neonatal stabilization and transport
  • Pediatric emergencies
