La punció lumbar és un procediment habitual a Pediatria, en qualsevol rang d’edat (nounat, lactant, nen i adolescent) tant diagnòstic com terapèutic de diferents patologies: infeccioses, metabòliques, immunitàries, hemato-oncològiques…
Aquest programa permet als residents de Pediatria practicar en simuladors els procediments invasius abans d’executar-los en els pacients.
Després d’un bloc de contingut teòric sobre material necessari, indicacions, tècnica, cures postpunció i interpretació de resultats que els alumnes revisen de forma individual, es procedeix a la part pràctica que consta d’una sessió interactiva de repàs del check-list de punció lumbar amb revisió del contingut teòric.
Així mateix, es duu a terme un taller amb maniquí específic de punció lumbar que permet practicar la tècnica en decúbit lateral i sedestació en un ambient controlat similar al de la pràctica assistencial.
