I have a degree in Medicine and Surgery and I’m a specialist in Neurosurgery. I finished the Doctoral Thesis in 1996. Since 1990, I work in the Neurosurgery Department of the Vall Hebron University Hospital. I am currently Clinical Head of Neurosurgery and responsible for the Pediatric Neurosurgery Unit. I am also an associate professor of the UAB, resident tutor and co-coordinator of the Neurotraumatology and Neurosurgery Research Unit (UNINN) of the Vall Hebron Research Institute
Since 2008, I coordinate the Department of Paediatric Neurosurgery at VHUH, considered as Reference Service (CSUR) by the Ministry of Health since 2013. My additional clinical fields of interest are hydrocephalus and other abnormalities of the CSF dynamics, traumatic brain injuries, surgery of the cranio-cervical junction, and neurooncology. I am accredited as University Professor by the ANECA and in Advanced research: AQUCAT “Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya”. I participate in several advisory committees (Advisory Commission on Severe Polytrauma Patient Care; Emergency Commission of the Traumatology Area at VHUH; Registry of severe traumatic brain injuries of Catalonia [TraumCat]). I am member of the Organizing Committee of the biannual International Symposium on Neuromonitoring and Treatment of Neurocritical Patients since 1994. I also belong to the European Reference Network on Rare Neurological Diseases (ERN-RND), the Collaborative European Neuro-Trauma Effectiveness Research in TBI (CENTER-TBI), and the European collaborative network Pediatric Brain Monitoring with Information Technology (KidsBrainIT). My general indicators of the quality of scientific production are: H-index: 28; sum of the times cited: 2880; papers indexed in PubMed: 118; book chapters: 55; direction of Doctoral Thesis: 6; direction of other research projects (master, grade...): 16; competitive projects: 30 (7 as principal investigator); healthcare innovation projects: 16; participation in national and international congresses: 321 (as guest speaker: 138).
