HBP surgery is a highly complex surgery where excellence in tumor classification and staging, together with the oncosurgical strategy, clearly mark the results of patients. Liver transplantation is the best treatment for patients with terminal liver disease. Organs for transplantation are a scarce resource and a healthcare system with an efficient organization for the detection and procurement of organs is needed. In this sense, the Vall d'Hebron Hospital has availability for obtaining liver grafts from deceased donors (in cardiac arrest and without cardiac arrest) and from living donors, in addition to performing graft reduction techniques and split transplantation.
Along these lines, the Advanced Training course in HBP Surgery and Liver Transplantation is a course with an observer profile that aims to expand and advance in a structured way the training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery both in the medical-surgical aspects as well as in the area of research, in accordance with the training in HBP Surgery of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA).
