The research group’s main line of research is the physiopathology of diabetic retinopathy, and approaches to this pathology through integrated biological systems. In this field, Dr. Simó, the Head of the research group, is the coordinator of the  EUROCONDOR Consortium, included in the 7th Framework Programme financed by the European Commission.

The group’s other lines of research have to do with resistance to insulin and obesity, as well as pathologies and dysfunctions associated with diabetes. In all its fields of research, basic and clinical approaches are important, not only to obtain useful results, but also to facilitate a rapid transfer of results to clinical practice.
